Astronom-icon Toronto

Was a great excuse to get my Armoured Battlegroup up to snuff. It was an exceptional driving factor to that end. With the exception of my infantry needing more work and a little graffiti needing redoing on one or 2 tanks my 1500pt force is done. This means exhaust stains Dirt and the like all being added.

I hope to have some photographic updates for viewing in the next day or 2.

M41A3 Godllub Light Tank
Crew: 5 Driver, Hull Gunner, Loader, Gunner, Tank commander
Weight: 26 tonnes
Performance: 70kph max road speed with a range of 160km.
Armaments: 1 M1HV 76mm Battle Cannon, 1x Hull Mounted HB2 Heavy Bolter, 1x Co-axial Mounted HB2 Heavy Bolter, and 1x Cupola mounted HB2 Heavy Bolter.
Suspension: Torsion Bar.

Brief Description: The M41 Godllub Light Tank forms the backbone of the da’Namian armour although considered a light tank on da’Nam it is comparible with the Lemun Russ in all aspects. Due to the nature of da’Nam the tank has a completely unique layout when compared to the Russ. The suspension has been redesigned with Jungle terrain in mind as well as removing the side sponsons and track guards as they tended to pack up with mud and immobilize the tank. Instead the Godllub mounts the 2 sponson Heavy Bolters as a coaxial and a cupola mount. To decrease ground pressure and thus increase performance in difficult terrain the Godllub is fitted with double wide tracks. The da’Namian turret though is sleak allowing the Godllub to be shorter than the typical Russ, The enlarged hull of the tank are considered to nullify that benefit though.

M41A1 ‘Beaver’ F.M.B. (Folding Mobile Bridgelayer)
Crew: 3
Weight: 21 tonnes, 34 tonnes with bridge
Performance: 70kph max road speed with a range of 160km.
Armaments: None
Suspension: Torsion Bar. A1 class have only 3 track return idlers.

Brief Description: A varient of the M41 Godllub Light Tank. The Beaver was designed using the same basic hull and components of the Godllub, designed to carry a scissor type bridge capable of supporting the weight of the Mighty M48 Nottap Medium tanks.

M42A2 Retsud S.P.A.A. (Self Propelled Anti Aircraft)
Crew: 6
Weight: 25 tonnes
Performance: 70kph max road speed with a range of 160km.
Armament: 2x Bof40 AutoCannons; 1x Hull mounted HB2 Heavy Bolter; 1x Pintle Mounted Cal30 Heavy Stubber; Field Modification 2x add-on HB2 heavy Bolters.
Suspension: Torsion bar. A2 denotes the 4 track return idlers.
Elevation: -5* to 85*

Brief Description: The Retsud like the Beaver is based upon the same Godllub chassis. Instead of a conventional turret the Retsud uses an open top layout with 2 Bof40s mounted (Add-on HB2s are connected to the Bof40s through frame mount,s thus increasing the volume of fire directed towards aircraft with the little complication other than the need to expose the crew to reload) in the centre of the bucket with a gunshield to either side. The Bof40 has an exceptional ROF for such a large gun, an incredible 240 RPM. When not engaging aircraft the Retsud is more than capable of dealing with enemy infantry (quite devastating) and light vehicles. Although the tank is open topped the configuration makes it difficult to assault and the flexible guns are good a deterring infantry from close combat. The vehicle is well liked by it’s commanders as the open turret layout permits them to easily survey the battlefield without being bottled up in a tin can peeking through a periscope.

M56A2 Niaprocs S.P.A.T. (Self Propelled Anti Tank)
Crew: 4
Weight: 7.5 tonnes
Performance: 45kph max road speed with a range of 225km.
Armament: 1x M3 90mm Earthshaker Cannon; 1x Hull mounted HB2 Heavy Bolter
Suspension: Torsion bar. using 4 pneumatic tires per side.
Elevation: -5* to 15*

The M56 Niaprocs is a SPAT designed for use with the da’Namian Airbourne/Airmobile divisions providing them with direct fire support and anti tank fire that can be dropped into the theatre with the division itself thus granting them much greater flexibility and survivability. The Drawback of this of course is that the vehicle needs to be extremely light, it is due to this that the M56 suffers from its biggest drawback which is of course its high recoil. Their really isn’t much you can do about a gun designed for a 60ton medium tank that is mounted to a 7.5 ton chassis. The recoil is know to push the tank 3-4 feet backwards as well as kicking up a huge cloud of dust. It is for this reason that most Veteran crews have the spotter out of the tank during fire support missions allowing him to make corrections and adjustments without being in the middle of a recoiling vehicle within a dust cloud.

M67A3 Godllub Flame Tank “Zippo”
Crew: 5 Driver, Hull Gunner, Loader, Gunner, Tank commander
Weight: 26 tonnes
Performance: 70kph max road speed with a range of 160km.
Armaments: 1 M6A1-7 Inferno Cannon, 1x Hull Mounted HB2 Heavy Bolter, 1x Co-axial Mounted HB2 Heavy Bolter, and 1x Cupola mounted HB2 Heavy Bolter.
Suspension: Torsion Bar.

Lt.Walke put forth the idea of replacing the 75mm Battlecannon of the M41 Godllub with a M7A1-6 Inferno Cannon and replacing the typical Ammo Storage with the fuel cells and Compressor and Air tanks. This was done as a field refit to a vehicle which had a destroyed Battlecannon and originally used a M6 Inferno cannon from a M132 Hellhound. The result was awesome Walke constantly pushed right into enemy lines and crushed morale as he burned his way through. Although the M6 is Capable it is a bulky system that is designed for a M113 Chassis. The Forges quickly stole upon the idea and created a new M7A1-6 Inferno Cannon that utilizes a Dumby Battlecannon barrel. This was done to allow the vehicle to remain anonymous until it got within range, once close the differences are easy to distinguish, if you know what to look for that is.

M113A2 A.P.C. and ACav (Armoured Personel Carrier or Armoured Cavalry)
Crew: 2 (driver and Commander/ Gunner) (up to 6 with ACAV upgrades 2-3 additional gunners and a loader)
Weight: 12.5 tonnes
Performance: 68kph max road speed with a range of 483km.
Armament: 2x HB2 Heavy Bolter; 1x Pintle Mounted Cal30 Heavy Stubber / Or mounting 1 M2 Autocannon; x1 HB2 Heavy Bolter; 1x Pintle Mounted Cal30 Heavy Stubber
Suspension: Torsion bar.
Transportation Capacity: 12

The M113 forms the back bone of the Mechanised Infantry. With its amphibious abilities and its light wieght it is capable of going where heavier tanks can’t go. It is also a simple enough chassis that it lends itself to many varients including a Medical Transport, M577 Command Post, APC, ACav, M730 Lareppahc SPSAM, M132 Flame Tank, M163 Vulcan SPAAG, etc. These all being just varients of equipment and armaments. The basic framework and powerpack also provide the backbone of the M548 “Mule” Cargo Hauler with its own varients including the M45 Maxxon Turret and the M730 Lareppahc SPSAM. The M113 has been in service longer than any other da’Namian design and will be there for a long time to come yet.

M548A2 “Mule” Cargo Hauler with add on M45 Maxxon Turret
Crew: 2 (driver and Commander/ Gunner)
Weight: 12.5 tonnes
Performance: 68kph max road speed with a range of 483km.
Armament: 1x HB2 Heavy Bolter(typical cargo set up); 2x Twin Linked AA mounted HB2 Heavy Bolters in Maxxon Mount (the hatch mounted HB2 is removed)
Suspension: Torsion bar.
Cargo Capacity: 6 tons (Non with Maxxon Turret or Lareppahc Sam System)

The Mule Arrived within a year of the M113 and is used for Cargo movement as well as for Ammo supply for SPGs when the FAASVs are not available. During convoy runs in Ork invested theatres there came an increasing requirement for SPAAGs for Anti Air work as well as for suppressing ambushes. The Old M45 Maxxon Mount that utilizes sentinal parts was field mounted to Spare M548s for the express role. Although not a true success in the AA role it is more than capable of thwarting ambushes. So although not an official Vehicle of the da’Namian Armoury it is common enough through field modifications to mention it.

M728A2E1 CEV Medium Tank (Combat Engineer Vehicle)
Crew: 4 Driver, Loader, Gunner, Tank commander
Weight: 52 tonnes
Performance: 70kph max road speed with a range of 160km.
Armaments: 1 M17 HESH 165mm Demolisher Cannon, 2x Co-axial Mounted HB2 Heavy Bolter, and 1x Cupola mounted HB2 Heavy Bolter, x1 Pintle Mounted Cal30 Heavy Stubber.
Suspension: Torsion Bar.

The M728 is actually an Engineer Vehicle that is assigned armoured units as divisional support. It mounts a M37 Mine Plow (Potato Digger) and a turret Mounted Boom Crane (removed from the example shown above) capable of lifting 32,000 pounds. The M728 offers thickened side walls in the hull as well as its 165mm Demolition gun capable of leveling a building or a bunker as the situation demands. The makes it a vehicle in high demand as it is a Jack of all trades.

Welcome to The Home of the da’Namian Armoured Cavalry

Filed under: Front Page — Lt. Walke @ 10:06 pm

For the most part this site will revolve around my Imperial Guard force. It will, of course diverge into other projects both mine and those of good friends.
That being said, sit back and get comfortable. I can be long winded and at times slow to update. Be patient with me and I will take you for an exciting ride through some rather new ideas in tank building for your 40k IG force.
